Camel Trekking in Merzouga

The classic Sahara experience: a guided camel caravan over the dunes of Erg Chebbi at sunrise or sunset.

Nothing says Sahara like arriving at camp by camel, the way caravans have crossed these dunes for centuries.

The Experience

Your trek begins at the edge of Merzouga, where our guides help you into the saddle and lead the caravan on foot into the dunes. The pace is slow and calm, with the light changing over the sand as you climb toward the high ridges of Erg Chebbi.

Sunset treks end at Camp Sakura in time for tea and dinner; sunrise treks start in the dark so you crest the dunes just as the desert turns gold. Along the way there is always time to stop, take photos and simply listen to the silence.
