The Experience
After a full safety briefing and helmet fitting, you follow your guide in convoy out of the village and onto the sand. The route builds gradually, from flat runs to rolling dunes, matched to the least experienced rider in the group.
Stops along the way give you time for photos from the high ridges, with views over the whole dune sea of Erg Chebbi. Tours run from both Merzouga and the camp, and combine beautifully with a sunset camel trek or a dinner in the dunes.

Most guided tours last one to two hours on the dunes. Longer desert circuits, including visits to the nomad areas around Erg Chebbi, can be arranged for experienced riders.

Closed shoes, sunglasses and a scarf to keep sand out. In summer ride early or late to avoid the heat; in winter bring a windproof jacket.
