Far from any city, the night sky over Erg Chebbi is simply astonishing: planets, shooting stars, and the Milky Way from horizon to horizon.
The Experience
There is no light pollution in the dunes. Once the campfire dims, step a few metres into the sand, let your eyes adjust for ten minutes, and the sky opens up: thousands of stars, the band of the Milky Way, and in most hours a shooting star or two.
Our team will point out the main constellations and planets visible that night, bring blankets out into the dunes for you, and leave you in peace for as long as you want to stay out. On moonlit nights, the dunes themselves glow silver instead.
